Cornelia Hellwig

Cornelia Hellwig Cornelia Hellwig, born in Hanover, started her musical career with piano; after her studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin where she received a diploma as state-certified music educator. She studied chant under Michael Gottschalk in Berlin and Norma Enns in Hanover. She attended classes under Thomas Lange, Romeo Alavi Kia and Max von Egmont. Cornelia Hellwig has been involved in numerous opera productions; she sang the leading part in Lortzing's Singspiel "Die Opernprobe", the part of the "Queen of the Night" in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" und three parts in the opera of Ravel's, "L'enfant et les sortilages". Furthermore she is a member of the opera piccola berlin. Cornelia Hellwig also gives concerts with various ensembles and takes part in oratorios. Her great love, however, is for the English and German song repertoire.

Kathrin Görne, born in Berlin, began guitar at the age of 11. She began her studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with music pedagogy. Following this, she studied solo performance under Martin Rennert and Rainer Feldmann. She passed the concert exams with distinction. Kathrin Görne attended master classes under Angelo Gilardino and Pepe Romero, among others. She is active as a soloist and in the field of chamber music, as in the guitar ensemble Duo Fandango which has produced a CD with Spanish music with Carpe Diem. In addition to her free-lance activities she teaches guitar.

Since 1991 Cornelia Hellwig und Kathrin Görne have given concerts together. Their repertoire covers Renaissance to contemporary music with an emphasis on English and Spanish composers. Apart from original compositions they have also written their own arrangements of classical songs.
