Ariadne Daskalakis
Ariadne Daskalakis, was born and raised in Boston. She studied in Boston and New York with Eric Rosenblith and Szymon Goldberg and in Berlin with Ilan Gronich and Thomas Brandis. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1993 and her Artists Diploma from the Hochschule der Künste Berlin in 1999, both with Honors. She has concertized in the USA, Canada, Europe, Israel and Japan. She has given concerto performances with orchestras including the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, the SWR Radio Philharmonic, Stuttgart Philharmonic and Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss, the Berliner Symphoniker, Ensemble Oriol Berlin, the Berliner Barock Orchestra, the New York Virtuosi and Boston Pops. She was also a concerto soloist with Sir Yehudi Menuhin in the Tel-Aviv Mann Auditorium. She is first violinist of the Manon Quartet, and gives frequently solo recitals with piano and harpsichord.
Ariadne Daskalakis was a prizewinner of the St. Louis Symphony Young Artists Competition 2000, the International Competition of the ARD Munich, the Berlin Gyarfas Violin Competition, and, togehter with Roglit Ishay, the International Chamber Music Competition in Trieste. Furthermore she was awarded prizes from the Harvard Music Association, the New England Conservatory and the Dortmund Mozart Society. She has made numerous solo and chamber music recordings for German radio and television, as well as the CD's "Ariadne" and "Violino Arioso". Since the fall of 2000 Ariadne Daskalakis is Professor for Violin at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne.
